Jönköping Marathon Relay

Distance

The distance (marathon, half marathon) is divided into 4 approximately equal sections. Each team gets 4 bibs, one for each section The team consists of 2 to 4 runners – one runner can run several sections. If a runner runs more than one section, they will wear more than one bib. You can decide who runs what distance(s) on the day of the race and you do not need to notify us. Please note that you cannot change the distance (marathon, half marathon) that you entered at registration. For more exact length of the distances scroll down to the relay zones.

Number of runners

When registering, enter the number of runners (2 to 4). This number is subject to change (e.g. if someone falls ill and you cannot find a replacement, one of the runners can run an extra distance). BUT we ask you to estimate the number as well as possible to ensure the safety of the race (we need to know the number of runners to inform the emergency services etc).

Classes

Each relay team chooses between the WOMEN, MEN, MIXED and COMPANY. The fastest team in each class wins. Runners’ names are not registered and it is therefore possible to change members up to the start of the race without having to make a name change. However, the class must be correct. If your team is registered as a WOMEN class, it is not possible to include a male runner in the team. In this case, you must register a change of class (for a fee) and this must be done at least 3 weeks before the race.

Registration and price

To register a relay team for the half marathon or marathon, go to 1 700 SEK.

You can register your team here:

Company registration

As a company, you can register many teams. Remember not to name the teams the same. For example, it is perfectly fine to have a team called TRH 1, TRH 2, etc.

Don’t miss out on booking a tent in the new corporate village

The tent is in the start/finish area and is available in two different sizes:

  • Tent package M – Up to 16 seats (2 bench sets)
  • Tent Package L – Up to 32 seats (4 bench sets)

It is of course possible to book more tents and in that case they are placed next to each other. It is of course okay to bring your own food and drinks to your tent and enjoy the time together after your performance.

All prices are inclusive of VAT and of course include assembly. Limited number of tent spots. Book to secure your place.

What is the difference between the team competition and the relay?

In the team competition, a team consists of exactly 3 runners where each runner runs the full distance (half marathon or marathon) and each runner has an individual result recorded. The runners do not have to run the same distance. In addition, each member estimates his/her individual finishing time at registration and the difference with actual results is calculated. The team with the smallest difference wins. Here you can read more about our team competition

In the relay, a team consists of 2 to 4 runners where each runner runs one or more legs of the distance (half marathon or marathon) and only the team’s name and result are displayed in the results list (the runners’ names are not recorded). The winner is the fastest team in each class (LADIES, MEN, MIXED, COMPANY).

Race bib

Each team gets 4 bibs with a chip, one for each section e.g. 5000-1, 5000-2, 5000-3, 5000-4, where the number after the dash corresponds to the section. Note that it is important that you wear the right bib on the right section otherwise the time is not registered. If a runner runs several distances, several bibs are put on (if I run section 3 and 4, I should have number tags 5000-3 and 5000-4 on me). All 4 bibs will be collected at the same time by the team captain in Expo. Bring your ID with you! If someone other than the team captain collects the bibs, the team captain’s ID is shown (possibly a picture of it).

Baton

Baton is mandatory! The baton is given to the team when they collect their bibs and MUST be carried throughout the race and passed from one runner to the next. The baton must be kept visible throughout the race. Lost baton means disqualification. After the race, the baton is returned at the finish line.

If a team member breaks the race

Each section has a maximum time equal to a quarter of the total maximum time (marathon 6 hours, half marathon 3 hours) – so each section of the marathon relay has a maximum time of 90 minutes and a section of the half marathon relay has a maximum time of 45 minutes. If a runner breaks or for another reason fails to make it to the transition zone within the maximum time (calculated from the start), the next runner has the opportunity to start anyway. In this case, the runner will receive an extra baton from the staff in the relay area. Teams finishing the race in this way will not have a time recorded on race day but a few days later (due to extra administration). Both batons must be handed in at the finish area.
